DIJAMANI CHOTHE A REAL PIONEER
Being a pioneer in spreading the gospel in a new area or region takes a special person. One must have the zeal of Paul, the tenacity of a bulldog and the courage of a lion. In India, not only must one endure stressful conditions like searing heat, bad roads, almost daily power outages, regular transportation bans by militants, primitive or no toilet facilities, etc, but must face the challenge of paganism, denominationalism and perhaps deal with two or three languages. The brother named above is a little man, but a sound gospel preacher who can “endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (II Tim. 2:3). I have written about him in time past but I feel limited in my ability to do justice to his accomplishments. Here are some excerpts from his most recent report. He speaks three or four languages. He is a bit weak in English. He writes “D.M.” when he speaks of himself and his dates are given in the overseas style, i.e., the day of the week first. When he uses the word “company” he means the group who went to the place to help conduct the local worship service. By Venue he means the place.

Date: 02/02/08 I went up Mantala Church with my wife where Mr. Dinesh, bro. George and bro. Adamson were waiting for us for prayer. We studied also (how) to defende ourselves against the idle talkers. Date :03/02/08 Sunday worship in three places: 1. Venue: Langsoleit, Time: 7 to 9 A.M., Speaker: D.M. (Himself), Topic: Three kinds of worship in Bible. (Langsolet is a village in the jungle; I have been there, JW). 2. Venue: Jensing Gaon, Time: 9.30 to 11.30 A.M., Speaker: D.M., Topic: Three kinds of worship in Bible . 3. Venue: Mantela ( Taralanso ), Time: 1 to 3 P.M., Speaker: D.M, Topic: Unity and oneness in the NT Church, Translator: bro. Adamson . Date: 04/02/08 I and my wife went to Jensing Gaon. Mr. Giten Engti and his wife Sika were Baptized after taking (a) two hour long Baptism class. Date: 05/02/08 I and my wife visiting again (in) Jensing Gaon (Gaon means village) to practice with them singing and studying because they were in the Hinduism background and they do not know how to sing in their worship. (Later) Mr. Dinesh collecting 6 or 7 persons for baptism class and called us by the phone. Soon we come back there again and study about baptism class with many questions and answers. Date: 06/02/08 Mr. Dinesh (a) married man, Mr. Indrajitrai (also a) married man and Mr. Ajoy a bachelor obeying the Gospel to (be) Baptised after we have taken about an hour baptism class. Date: 08/02/08 As (according to) our decision (by) four of us (of the) Mantela church: bro. Dinesh, bro. Adamson, bro. Donyram and I were sitting for prayer meeting beginning from 7 A.M. to 3 P.M. for various prayer items. Date : 10/02/08 Sunday worship 1. Venue: Langsoliet, Time: 7 to 9 A.M., Speaker: bro. Dinesh, Topic: Sermon on the mount. (In the) Company of D.M. 2. Venue: Jensing Gaon, Time: 9.30 to 11.30 A .M., Speaker: D. M., Topic: Why should we preach? ( In the) Company (group):bro. Robert, bro. Peter, bro. Dinesh and I . 3. Venue Mantela, Time: 01 to 03 P.M., Speaker: D.M., Topic: Women in the NT church. Company my family.
Date: 11/02/08 I was taking baptism class with 15 people, by the will of God, four of them were obeying the Gospel of Christ and baptized under the ministership of bro. Dinesh. Their names: Mr. Dhoniram married man, Jensing Tisso a married man, Mrs. Ameli Phangchopi, bro. Dinesh’s wife and Kaku Hansepi, (who is) bro. Dhoniram’s wife. Then bro. Dinesh and I went to baptism class at Birla area where six persons were attended in the meeting. Date: 12/02/08 I and my wife went up to bro. Dinesh’s house for Baptism class where 35 people were attending the class for two hours. At last three persons among them were baptized. Their names (I have left off the names for lack of space, JW). On that same night we the 7 brothers were sitting at prayer meeting at bro. Dhoniram ‘s house for the whole night beginning from 7 P.M. till the next morning by praying and singing . There bro. Dhoniram has one daughter of four, who suffers epileptic disease. Date: 14/02/08 I study with Mr. Mohansing Kro and 26 Hindus about the three dispensation, (the) Christ Gospel, (and) baptism. Date: 15/02/08 After taking baptism class with Mr. Mohansing and Mr. Bidyasing about two hours they were baptised . Afternoon bro. Adamson and I went to Sirkangnep Gaon to meet bro. Hundorsing and rebuking of his irregularity in attendance worship. Date: 17/02/08 Sunday worship 1. Venue: Jensing Gaon, Time: 9.30 to 11.30 P.M., Speaker: D.M., Topic: Why should a Christian not be forsaking their assembling. Company: bro. Roberty, bro. Peter, bro. Dinesh and D.M., Translator: bro. Dinesh 2. Venue: Mantela, Time: 01 to 03 P.M., Speaker: D.M., Topic: Why should a Christian not be forsaking their assembling Translator: bro. Dinesh . Right after the worship we are conducting some prayer items led by bro. Dinesh . Evening home visiting: bro. Dhoniram, House Speakers: bro. Dinesh and D.M . Date: 18/02/08 I went to Mantela Church to meet three brothers, George, Adamson and Mohansing to discuss how to defend our faith against the false teachers. Date: 20/02/08 I and my wife went to Dhansire to study with Mr. Diphusa (to) evangelise about our worship. Is (it) from heaven or men? When we (came) back bro. Joshep and Adamson waiting for me and we study the same topic to them again. Date: 21/02/08 I am visiting bro. Dhonoram’s sick daughter Mariam of epilepsy. Bro. Dinesh and bro Jensing join with us in prayer for the sick . Date: 22/02/08 I and my wife sitting at home for prayer and singing asking for many items since 6 Am to 12 Am Date: 24/02/08 Sunday worship 1. Venue: Phonglokpet, Time: 10 to 12 A.M. Speaker: D.M., Translator: bro. Mongolsing, Topic: Is our worship to God from heaven or men? Company: D.M. and wife. 2. Langsoliet and Jensing Gaon for the worship service. I have intrusted bro Robert and bro Peter while Mantela worship I have intrusted to bro. Dinesh bro George. Date: 25/02/08 I and my wife visiting Polytechnic area to study for two families: Mr. Mahajan family and Mr Seng Bey family. Topic: The three dispensation , the Gospel of Christ and baptism. Date: 26/02/08 Early morning I and my wife visiting again the same place of Polytechnic area and teaching about the NT Church . Date: 05/02/08 Bro. Dinesh donating two pieces of white cloth for the Lord’s table for the newly establishing Church of Christ 1. Jensing Gaon (Here a village head (came from) Hinduism to Christ ) 2. Mantela Gaon. (Here a brother is) donating Rs. 300.00 for bamboo to repair a cottage to be a worship place. He further donating a black board with Chalk for the same Mantela worship Date: 14/02/08 Bro. George Tokbi donating his own cottage for the worship place temporarily he also donating a Lord’s table frame with 25 cups for Mantela Church. He also donating 15 Lord’s table cups to Jensing Gaon.
If Gods will He may added some more people into the kingdom of His Son Jesus of the coming Months. Thanks for regular funding and all necessary equipments for Karbi Anglong (a district in Assam, N.E. India) evangelism. We are always eager your constanly prayer. I am looking for a new rent house where there will be not troublesome but safe for the Christian . As our number increasing the negatives (are) also increasing like anything against us. I think (for us) to be setting up a Bible school at Diphu will be effective and this District is the largest in size of Assam State. Dijamani Chothe”
This is an example of the kind of men we are training with your help to preach the gospel. I leave March 18th to return to India to nurture the schools and to search out more brethren who can train others also” (II Tim. 2:2). Note brother Dijamani is already thinking along this line: convert men and train them to be preachers. Beloved we need your prayers and your help.
