THE TRUE STORY ABOUT DINOSAURS Kyle Butt and Eric Lyons
Note: One of the most fascinating studies in science is that of the dinosaurs. The following article is excerpted from a book called, Dinosaurs Unleashed. It needs to be in the home of every Christian family and in the hands of every teacher. It is well done with beautiful drawings and artists’ concepts of the great beasts in full color. It is a powerful tool to refute the errors of Darwinists and other evolutionists. |
|
“It is time that the true story about dinosaurs is heard! The story told by evolutionists does not agree with the true facts of science or the Bible. After looking at all the evidence, it is easy to see that dinosaurs and humans once lived together. Humans painted and carved accurate pictures of these remarkable animals hundreds of years before our modern society began to discover their bones. Historians like Herodotus wrote about flying reptiles over 2,400 years ago. Even the Bible describes large creatures that sound very much like dinosaurs. But the Bible does not use these creatures to try and teach people evolution. |
|
The Bible uses these magnificent creatures to bring glory to the Creator. After all, only God can create animals as remarkable as dinosaurs. God put humans on the Earth with dinosaurs so that humans could look at the dinosaurs and see God’s power and ability. We humans have created many wonderful machines and buildings, but we have never been able to design anything as brilliant as a dinosaur. Dinosaurs do not “prove” evolution, instead, dinosaurs prove that there is a powerful God who rules the Universe, and only He has the power to design such “terribly great lizards.” |
|
Note: Churches would do well to put one of these in the hands of every teacher in order that they will have the information to answer children’s questions about dinosaurs. Parents and grandparents would also do well to present each of their children or grandchildren a copy. You may order one for $10.95 plus $2.07 postage or a box of 20 for $151.00 including postage, which is only $7.55 per copy. Order (not from us at Bulletin Briefs) by sending check or money order to Apologetic Press, 230 Landmark Drive, Montgomery, AL 36117-2752. Phone: 800-234-8558. |

READING THE BIBLE Richard Norman
As to reading the Bible, let me suggest that you begin by reading five pages of your Bible each morning. Page numbers are much easier to keep up with than chapters and verses. Five pages are always the same length. Take whatever time you need to read five pages. It may take you 15 or 20 minutes, or even 30 minutes. But if you read five pages a day, you will read the Bible in less than one year. If you can, try to read 10 pages a day. I read 10 pages in my Bible in about 30 minutes every morning. The largest Bible I have is a Dickson New Analytical Study Bible, which is the King James Version and has the American Standard Version embedded in the text. Reading five pages a day, I can finish in 289 days. That includes reading the helps offered, including summaries and outlines of every book. One New King James Version that I read had 1,128 pages, and at five pages a day I finished in 219 days. At 10 pages a day, the Dickson Bible can be read two times in a year, and the New King James three times in a year. Imagine reading the Bible two to three times a year, year after year, for several years! I can’t think of anything the church today needs more than members who read and know the Bible thoroughly. And I know of no way for that to happen without reading the Scriptures again and again, “For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little” (Isaiah 28:10 NKJV). One of the reasons the church is in the throes of controversy is that we have leaders — elders, deacons, preachers, teachers (professors) — who are biblically ignorant. They have studied all about the Bible but know little of the Bible. “Behold the days are coming, says the Lord God, That I will send a famine on the land. Not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord” (Amos 8:11). Average people in the pew today are so biblically ignorant they will swallow virtually anything any preacher says. We have deacons so biblically ignorant we are afraid to make them elders. We have elders so biblically ignorant they are allowing doctrinally unsound preachers to lead their congregations into apostasy. We have preachers so biblically ignorant they are following the biblically ignorant denominationalist preachers into the wastelands of doctrinal confusion. Brethren, we must know the Book, and the only way to know the Book is to read it front to back again and again and again. And we must all know the Book, from the least (the smallest child) to the greatest (oldest). Read your Bible every day, but spend some quality time and effort in its reading.

ABORTION’s IMPACT by Kacie Dobson
Forty-seven million babies have been aborted in the United States since 1973. Approximately 1.3 million of those lives were taken just last year! One third of the generation born in the thirty-three years from 1973-2003 is missing because of abortion. The death toll is enormously high, yet we may recite such statistics without actually considering just how staggering those numbers really are. Consider this: more Americans have died because of abortion than have died in the Civil War, both World Wars, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War, and the current war in Iraq combined. More babies are killed each day in America than the total number of people killed in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. There are as many abortion deaths each year as there are deaths caused by heart disease and cancer combined. The numbers are staggering: 1.3 million abortion deaths last year means that about 3,600 babies are killed every day — that’s 150 deaths per hour, and one baby lost every two and a half minutes! WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE???? WHY ISN’T THERE AN ENORMOUS PUBLIC OUTCRY OVER SUCH AN IMMENSE LOSS OF LIFE?

COMMENTARY ON DANIEL Emanuel Daugherty |
|
“Daniel two is critical to the understanding of the entire scheme of redemption as God unfolds it from Genesis to Revelation. It is no wonder that so many men and women, supposedly students of the Bible and Christianity, are wandering about, hopelessly lost in a quagmire of prophetic delusion. While boasting great knowledge of the subject, they have missed the entire scope of this chapter, the book of Daniel, the New Testament—the entire scheme of redemption! They have fouled up the entire Bible teaching of the Messiah and His Kingdom and thus His promised |

salvation! This includes those of a liberal persuasion who fail to rightly divide the prophecy in chapter 2, and subsequently those of the following chapters. And, it includes, especially, those of a Premillennial persuasion who have devised an entirely different Messiah, Kingdom, and plan of salvation that was not and is not in the mind of God, but wholly from their own misguided and deluded minds. Because of these warped and twisted views of scripture, millions of souls will be lost for eternity. To miss the point of Daniel two is to miss it all!” |

PROVIDE AN ALTERNATIVE Jim Waldron
Jesus said, “I say unto you whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matt. 5:27). It is important that one exercise “self control” (II Peter 1:6) in the mind as well as the body. As the Lord said again, “for out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries…” (Matt. 15:19). The child of God is not to hate to forestall murder (I John 3:15) and he is not to fill his heart with sexual lust in order to forestall the actual commitment of unlawful sexual intercourse. For such is lawful and sacred only in marriage (Heb. 13:4). As saints, young and old, we have been freed from sin, but we must not use our freedom “as a cloak for vice” (I Peter 2:16). Paul told Timothy “flee also youthful lusts” (II Tim. 2:22). Since there is the danger of adultery in the heart through the look of lust, how much more dangerous is it to put young people on the dance floor where they are bumping and grinding their hips around and against one another. Parents urgently need to join with other parents to provide wholesome activities as alternatives to the prom for their children. |

U.S. EVANGELISM
Most of you know about our evangelistic campaign to get good literature into the hands of saints and our fellow countrymen across the U.S. and many of you have contributed to make this free book service available. Thus you will rejoice to read the letter below, which came in December, that tells of the use of Jon Gary Williams’ book, The Book of Mormon, A Book of Error and Fraud:
“Thanks for your great work and sending us an assortment of books. The one on the Book of Mormon helped us convert four of that persuasion. God bless. J.S. , Jacksonville, FL”
If you would like to have a list of our free books and tracts, please write to Randall Standefer, P.O. Box 123, Dunlap, TN 37327. If you wish to help with this effort to evangelize America, send your gifts to Church of Christ, Mission Work at the same address.
THE EVOLUTION OF CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS Neil W. Anderson
The religious principles upon which our schools were founded paralleled the beliefs of our congregations, but today both our congregations and schools are losing their biblical identity. As progressive changes have appeared in our churches, changes are also evident in our schools—or is it the other way around? In earlier days, both our schools and churches taught, through Scripture, the importance of obedience to God regarding salvation and daily living. Today, in contrast, theologians among us pretend to know more about what God meant than what He said. Our young people need more than faith-based education. They urgently need Bible teaching in order to develop a strong, active faith in God. Let’s restore God’s Word to its rightful role in our lives, in our churches and in our schools.
