PROTECT OUR CHILDREN FROM OBSCENITY
Pornographers go after our children while elected officials refuse to enforce obscenity laws.
Our children need your help! It has been reported that there are as many as 10,000,000 pornographic sites on the Internet. The average age for those first exposed to Internet obscenity is 11 and the largest consumer group is 12-17 year-olds. Nine out of ten of 8-16 year-olds have viewed pornography online. Yet, in the past 15 years, under both the Clinton and Bush administrations, there has not been a single federal prosecution of a major distributor of internet, in (motel)-room movie, cell phone or cable TV obscenity. Not one! (There were a couple of prosecutions of small, mom and pop type pornographers.) The major pornographers have no fear of prosecution. Why? Because those responsible for enforcing the law fear* the pornographers more than they fear the mothers and fathers of America; they care more about the hawkers of pornography than they do our children. Our children are being robbed of their childhood by greedy pornographers and cowardly officials. Please understand that I am not referring to trashy TV. I am referring to hardcore pornography. The Supreme Court has consistently ruled that obscenity is not protected under the First Amendment.

*Often it is the case that politicians and bureaucrats greatly fear the ACLU, which forces exceedingly expensive trials against the state that opposes their porno friends. The ACLU might as well be known as the Anti-Christian-Liberties-Union. For sure they are one of the many anti-Christ movements in the world (I John 2:18). (JW). |

The South China Morning (SCM) Post of Hong Kong, Peter Humphery: “Police have detained 29 persons for showing pornographic videotapes in the Swatow district of Guangdong province and have seized dozens of hand copied obscene books, according to official Chinese press reports. “And the authorities are once again blaming the corrosive influence on Hong Kong, overseas Chinese and foreign visitors for the spread of pornography in China. “Reviving the harsh tones of the days before Sino-Western détente, the Communist Party newspaper, People’s Daily, called pornography and violence in books and videotapes ‘the dirtiest and most decadent thing in bourgeois and imperialist culture’ and Chinese news media on Friday reported a ban on pornographic and indecent tapes, records, and videotapes. “The People’s Daily warned Communist Party members they faced expulsion if they smuggled in obscene material or were involved with the spread of pornography.
“The Workers’ Daily said 18 screening centers in rural communes had shown more than 170 pornographic tapes since the end of last year taking in 770,000 yuan (US $154,000). “Police also seized more than 7,000 pornographic photographs, including over 800 from a private studio that had already sold about 1,000, the paper said. “Illegal peddling of pornography has become extremely lucrative, especially in the Canton area where, last week, the SCM Post discovered girlie magazines from abroad were being sold on the street for 27 yuan (about U.S. $5.50). “Some young people had already been ruined physically and mentally by pornography, and many had been led into crime, The People’s Daily said. “This follows an article in The Worker’s Daily two weeks ago reporting a dramatic rise in the smuggling of pornography from Hong Kong and which said that Chinese customs officers had seized more pornographic items in the past two months than they had in the whole of the previous year. “Blaming the problem on foreign influence, The People’s Daily said last week: ‘We definitely cannot overlook corruption by decadent bourgeois ideology.’”

It is very significant that a nation ruled by an atheistic government such as China has strict laws against pornography, while some countries which are called Christian tolerate the spread of obscene literature. Pornography is one of the greatest dangers facing society today and is linked with the humanistic, atheistic attack on the human race. This sinister evil is aided and abetted by many otherwise respected and influential people and institutions of the free world. Under the banner of “the First Amendment freedom of the press” much of the media including newspaper editors, reporters and writers, movie and television writers and producers mistakenly and/or intentionally think and argue that anything spoken or written cannot be limited. There are “First Amendment absolutists” who say that freedom of speech and press are absolutely guaranteed by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. That is (according to them) persons under the Constitution can write, publish or say anything they want to regardless of the offensive nature of the material; and there are many people who erroneously believe that. The facts are that the framers of the Constitution had no such intention in writing the First Amendment; for there are quite a number of areas of speech and publication outside the protection of the First Amendment such as libel, slander, perjury and obscenity; and the Supreme Court as well as nearly all other courts of law in the U.S. have ruled so consistently for over 200 years. Laws have been on the books, upheld by the courts, and enforced for many years banning obscenity including profanity and pornography. I personally testified in a trial in which an adult book store owner was convicted and sentenced for selling one magazine deemed obscene by a jury. He was sentenced to a stay in the workhouse and fined $5,000. This was under a Tennessee State Law. There are laws against obscenity in the U.S. on the federal, state and local level which have been held constitutional by the highest court of the land. So when porn lawyers and other defenders say the First Amendment protects them, this is mostly a smokescreen thrown up by them to try to cloud the public’s mind and to allow the dealers of filth to continue making money. The problem is not so much of law as it is enforcement. The great need of our time is for citizens to rise up and demand that laws against obscenity and pornography be enforced. It is regrettable but true that often such laws are prosecuted only when the public is aroused and concerned over the problem. The problem of pornography is virtually worldwide. In some areas it is worse than others. It thus constitutes a threat to the home in many nations of the world. It is truly an international danger posed to undermine the sanctity and dignity of marriage. It threatens the high value placed upon human life. It is a gross violation of the law of God and must be exposed through the teaching and preaching of the word of God. The Christian cannot be neutral. He must expose and oppose all that is immoral as a part of declaring the whole counsel of God. He must be alert to the problem of obscenity and let his voice be heard in the forums available to him wherever he is. Write, call or see your representative in government about the problem. Become informed of the nature and extent of the problem. If laws are available against pornography respectfully request that they be enforced. At the same time teach and live lives of purity and wholesomeness. Read, view, and listen to only that which is ennobling and edifying. AMERICANS ARE BEING LIED TO Tom Moore
“And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers; and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel...In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did that which was right in his own eyes” (Judges 12:10; 21:25). Does this not describe the present United States of America? We are living in an “anything goes” society. The dismantling of “America’s Christian Heritage” is taking place before our very eyes, and has been for the last 50 years. American culture had for 185 years been friendly toward Christianity—but no longer. America was once considered a “Christian nation”—but this is quickly fading. For the last 50 years, the forces of humanism, atheism, evolution, liberalism, pluralism and “political correctness” have been aggressive in their assault on all forms of the “Christian religion.” They have gradually dismantled many of the moral and spiritual principles that once characterized our society. America’s religious, moral, and spiritual foundation is literally disintegrating before our very eyes! We are presently in an all-out, casualty-filled, spiritual war. The central issue of this war is God and the Bible. Social and political liberals from Hollywood and even many in our Nation’s Capitol are hostile toward God, and they are very open about it. Friends, we are facing perilous times The apostle Paul declared, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Eph. 6;10-12). This conspiracy parades itself under the guise that our Founding Fathers and the Constitution advocated the “separation of church and state.” The enemies of religion claim that this means that all references to God and Christianity should not be permitted in public settings that are associated with the government, community or schools. There are many decisions that are being made this very day in our government and in our courts with this philosophical mind set. We are being told that the Constitution enjoins the “separation of church and state” and that our Founding Fathers opposed public expression of Christian religion in government and schools. My friends, this is a lie! Adolf Hitler said, “By means of shrewd lies unremittingly repeated, it is possible to make people believe that heaven is hell and hell is heaven. The greater the lie, the more readily it is believed.” The “separation of church and state” is not found in the Constitution—or anything akin to it. As a matter of fact, our Founding Fathers wrote and spoke often about God and religion. If we will read what they said, and not what people say they said, this will become very apparent. Should not this be true with regard to the Bible? Should we not be more concerned with what God says than man? Our Founding Fathers’ speeches were filled with Scripture. The Bible is quoted over and over again in Presidential Inaugural Speeches. As an example, notice an excerpt from George Washington’s Farewell Address: “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them...Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.” Note what Washington is saying. The two indispensable supports to human happiness, political prosperity and popular government are religion and morality. If you take religion out of our government it will lead to ruin. That is exactly what we see happening in our day! What is the solution? First, we must stop allowing culture to influence us. We need to seek God first in all things (Mt. 6:33; Mk. 12:30). Second, we must teach our families the importance of faithfully serving God (Deut. 6:24-25). Third, we need to pray fervently (I Tim. 2:1-2) and with great intensity that our government will put God back where He belongs—in the forefront of all their decisions. Fourth, we must get involved in the political process. When the godly do not participate in the political process we empower the wicked (2 Chron. 19:2). “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing” (Edmund Burke). The Bible gives us guidelines for selecting people to be our political leaders (Ex. 18:21; Pro. 29:2, 4). “Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people” (Pro. 14:34). Fifth, we must remain steadfast (I Cor. 15:58). America did not get into this fix overnight and it will not be changed overnight. Morality and the Bible make for a strong government! Read Psalm 33.
